Boys track, coached by Mr. Carre and Mr. Debenedetto, has been having an amazing season. Personal records have been broken and qualifiers have been met. The hard work and dedication of the student-athletes have not gone unnoticed or unrewarded.
As the track team advertises on their shirts, “The competition isn’t against the runner next to me, but the runner inside of me.”
Pushing themselves to new heights this team has gone above and beyond to bring West Hempstead track to a new level.
The teams strong suite is the 4 x 1 relay as they rank number 1 in the state in their division. The 4 x 1 consists of Eric Oh, Chris Jean-Louis, Lincoln Jerome, and Urosh Dimitrijevic
This season has been a huge success, with more people going to counties this year than in recent history. On Thursday, May 24, the 15 boys will be trying their best to earn a spot at the New York state championships.
Some of the team standouts include John Reagan, Chris Jean Louis and Brandon Pierre, powerhouses in the field events, sprinter Jaden Mason and of course, the 4 x 1 relay team.
