Rams Put the “Bad” in Badminton!

by Harpinder Kaur and Taylor Ephraim

After a season of great success last year, the Girls Varsity Badminton team moved up into a higher division this year. The team led by Coach Tracy Hutt put in all efforts for a great possible season.

Each new season comes with many different factors such as past team members graduating, new freshmen with great potential, and girls willing to move up in terms of ranking and being a good badminton player. This season has been an intense season with matches and practices. The season ended off with a remarkable record, not undefeated, but something to be proud of.

As the team moved up into a new division, the competition was intense. The scorers always did their possible best and truly fought for their points. Practices continued to train the girls throughout the season while giving opportunities for new friendships and sportsmanship. Badminton practice consisted of many serving drills and intense matches for ranking against other teammates.

The badminton season ended with a 5-5 record. Aruna Mathura and Sabrina Rodriguez who both started off freshman year went to the county finals. Both played really well and Aruna Mathura even won her match.

Aruna who is the team’s third single player has come a long way, from playing doubles freshman year to singles her second year. Aruna continues to improve her skills and also brings a warm gathering spirit for the team. Not only is she a great teammate but also one of the team captains.

Rams Badminton team is ready for all the new challenges that will come alongside a new season next year.
