Morning Announcements Go Live

By Shyla Burrell

The newest addition to the school and its technology is the videotaped morning announcements. The link for these announcements can be found daily on the high school web page

Mr. Cangemi, the director of STEM started “The Breakfast Club”, a group of juniors and seniors who are well rounded and interested in the technology needed for putting together daily announcements. The idea behind now recording our morning announcements is to allow the students and teachers to have an interactive experience when listening to the announcements. It also gives the students of the club a chance to learn the inner workings of a broadcast.

A new component to the announcements is the introduction of juniors. In years past only seniors were allowed to participate in the morning announcements. While there is currently the only one 11th grade news anchor, Genesis Holland, another junior, also supports the announcements with technical assistance. Adding juniors to the program this year will ensure smoother operations next year. There is a rotation for the news anchors to allow camera time for all that want to contribute to the program. This all wouldn't be possible without Deanna Mullen behind the camera.

Announcements are filmed around 8 o'clock in the Science office but will be moved into the Video Conference Room to give the group more space. Another component that the group would love to add is a news report that covers sports and even a weather.

Anyone who feels that they can contribute should speak to Mr.Cangemi to get more information about joining this new group.
