Top 6 Items You Need To Have Before Running

 By Alex Santos

There are many items that different runners have to help them on their long runs. I have run cross country for two years and Ran track and field for nearly three years. I have run events ranging from the 100m dash to the 10k, and the items I use have always been the same. Here are my top 6 picks for items I use when I go on runs.

  1. Having a good pair of running shoes- A good pair of running shoes is one of the most important things to have for running. Many brands sell long-distance running shoes, Such as Nike Adidas Asics, etc. But the best brand for running, in my opinion, is New balance. New balance sells various shoes for distance running ranging from the 800m to the marathon. The shoes that have worked for me are the xc seven from New balance  I have had no complaints about the xc sevens they are lightweight sneakers that are great for running fast and comfortable enough not to hurt your back.

  1. A good watch- A watch is another important item you need for distance running. It is used to record your steps and heartbeat. Many brands sell watches but the two I recommend are Apple if you use an Iphone and Samsung if you use an android device. It also helps that those two watches are the most accurate and best at what they do with the added sensors inside making the two brands steps ahead of their competitors in the smartwatch industry.

3. A water bottle- A water bottle is very important for physical activities you use to not be dehydrated or for cooling down. I drink my water after my runs to prevent cramps in my stomach but it all depends on the person and the intensity of the workout. The one I use is the Gatorade Squeeze 32oz Plastic Water Bottle any water bottle will do.

4. String Bag- A string bag is used to carry your items. You need a stringbag that can hold your  items. I recommend the Nike Brasilia 9.0  gymsack. It is big enough to hold all of your items with no problem while being lightweight and stylish.

5. Towel- A towel is used to dry yourself after a run. A towel can also prevent sweat from getting in your eye later on which is very unpleasant from experience. A towel that I recommend is the pack towel. It has different colors and designs and dries up quickly as well.

6. Drinks with electrolytes- I normally bring a gatorade before going on 5 mile runs this is because when you sweat you lose nutrients as a result you need to replenish your body and this is where energy drinks come in handy as your body regains its lost nutrients from sweat which in turn lowers the chance of injury and you work more efficiently.

Best Nintendo Switch Games To Try If You Haven't Already

 By Blanca Gonzalez Norio

Are you looking for a new game to try for your Nintendo Switch? Well, you’ve come to the right place. There are many, many, many great Nintendo Switch games to try. Some of the best ones are from Mario while others are new creations. It can take hours looking up games and their info to see if you’ll like it. Why not read one page of many different games? Wouldn’t you wanna know you'll enjoy playing a game without even trying it?

Animal Crossing: New Horizons

You start off on a deserted island and you need to make it a paradise so more islanders go. You can choose where you want the location of your home to be. You can eventually build things like a bridge or a fence. You also pick out the layout of the land. Even though I don’t personally own it, I tried the game and it was definitely fun to see the way you need to turn it in for more visitors.

Super Mario Odyssey

You start off with the most common plot of  Bowser and Mario facing each other. He kidnaps princess Peach and you must power a ship to get to her. You need the power moons from each kingdom to power your ship. Even after you finish the game, there is actually still a lot to do. This is a game that definitely won’t keep you bored if you try.

Mario Kart 8 Deluxe

This game is just like the original on the Wii U but there are new additions to it. There are new characters and you can hold two special items at a time. You can play with up to 4 players online. Under my experience, the game totally got better from the Wii U version to the Switch.  If you didn’t have the first version, this one will definitely knock it outta the park.

Super Kirby Clash

In this game, you collect gem apples to increase your lives, help buy potions, and help buy weapons and armour. You start off as Kirby and you choose your role. You have to defeat the enemy to get more gem apples and rewards. These gem apples are grown on trees and you get them for free daily.

Kirby Star Allies

In this game, Kirby has a mixed amount of abilities. Kirby must work with his allies to get through the puzzles. The Jamba Heart had been broken into multiple pieces and scattered all across the galaxy. From experience of playing with my friends, this is not a game that you would wanna miss.

Super Mario Bros 3D world + Bowser’s Fury

Here, Bowser has turned into an oily, abusive father by black acrylic paint. Bowser jr. needs Mario's help to turn him back. This has a plot sort of like Super Mario Odyssey. You need to collect Cat Shines the way you would collect power moons in Super Mario Odyssey.

If  you're in search of a new game, these are totally some of the best options for you.

Top 6 Netflix Horror Movies To Stream For Fun

By: Jalynn Rhodes

I was raised on classic horror since I was 5-years-old. Movies like “Nightmare On Elm Street”, “Texas Chainsaw Massacre”, “The Hills Have Eyes”, etc were my comfort films from a very young age. Each of these movies on this list could be good for any horror movie addict or simply a group of friends looking for a quick jumpscare. I dug out some of Netflix’s best horror movies to list from best to least based on shock factor to plot. Let’s take a walk down Elm Street.

  1. The Conjuring -

If you are looking for a gut-wrenching supernatural film that is based on true events, this is for you. In this movie there is a family who, after moving into a home, are facing terrors. In order to stop this they try to seek help from a couple of demonologists. The sinister jump scares are sure to make your heart skip a beat. In one of the best scenes we are face to face with a devilish ghost on top of a wardrobe. She then climbs off and decides to attack one of the characters in the movie. This movie is nothing less than horrifying. Perfect for a sleepover if you’re trying to scare any friends. Overall I’m not sure if this movie could get any better. (10/10)

  1. Would You Rather -

A “Saw” like movie follows a plot of twisted rich people who simply look for enjoyment in getting people who need money in a game of a sinister would you rather. The game has two options of almost equally harmful things and you are faced with a choice to choose and follow through. The challenges start off slow and steadily increase and leave you wondering if you would be able to complete it. I know at least for myself, I would do what I need to do in order to get out of there. Overall this movie is interesting, so it deserves a good ranking. (9/10)

  1. Truth Or Dare -

This classic Halloween movie has eight friends who all rent a house where they are celebrating the holiday. Soon they find themselves being forced into this terrifying game, in which they have no choice but to partake in a horrific game of truth or dare. They each die off one by one, however each kill will keep you interested. You will be at the edge of your seat trying to figure out what happens next. There are secrets throughout the group the twisted game feeds into, so the plot is interesting to follow. Overall this is a great movie to watch with friends if you’re not looking for something too scary. (8.5/10)

  1. Bride Of Chucky -

This bite-sized doll killer is a comedic, terrifying, and overall breathtaking killer. It has the same shock factor as “Leprechaun”, with a small doll able to murder multiple people throughout the film. We start off with a committed girlfriend of a once dead serial killer who tries anything to get him back, even a satanic ritual. However she finds herself becoming a doll too, now they travel back to a graveyard to find an amulet that can turn them both human again. There are no jumpscares in this movie, but the creative kills are breathtakingly horrorify to watch. Overall this movie is definitely one to see. (7/10)

  1. Leprechaun -

This rated R delight should be described as more of a comedy then a scary movie. Throughout the film we are faced with a, at most 4 foot bow-legged, leprechaun running, which is easily comedic relief. His accent and mannerisms make you wonder how any could truly fear this movie. The characters are so obviously terrible at reacting when faced with terrifying moments, it's stressful to watch. You’ll find yourself wondering why they didn’t simply do “this or that”. Honestly this movie simply isn’t ranked the lowest because of the ending which is most bluntly the scariest scene throughout the movie. The disassembled face of the Leprechaun melting will surely be in my dreams tonight. (6.5/10)

  1. Hush -

Wow, just wow. This movie was an overall experience in which I would love to forget it just to watch the movie over. It is about a deaf woman who is faced with a murder. Soon the murder realizes she is deaf and tries to use it to his advantage, but little does he know she is one tough-cookie. We see throughout the movie how she is able to amaze us with her strength despite each time she is hurt. Overall this movie is sometimes hard to watch, with some scenes leaving you wondering how she was able to get through that. The poor beat up girl is an amazing strong woman and for that this is definitely a movie to see. (6/10)
