Kesha Rose Sebert was born on March 1, 1987, in Los Angeles, California. Her mother was a single mom and struggled to make enough money to support Kesha and her brother. However, when Kesha was 4, her mom received a songwriting contract that took them all the way to Nashville, Tennessee. Because her mother was a songwriter, this allowed her to learn about music at a young age.
On August 10, 2017, Kesha released her single “Praying” after 4 years of no new releases. We remember Kesha starting her career with some very popular songs like “Tik Tok” and “We R Who We R.” But this song was written about Kesha’s struggles, forgiveness, and strength, after being abused by her producer.
While this song may be different from the others, It shows how powerful a song can really be. Kesha says, “This song is about coming to feel empathy for someone else even if they hurt you or scare you. It's a song about learning to be proud of the person you are even during low moments when you feel alone. It's also about hoping everyone, even someone who hurt you can heal.”
